The Chile Tsunami
Right-The Chile tsunami was generated by an Mw 8.8 earthquake 60 miles NNE of Concepcion, Chile. DART® tsunami buoy data was incorporated into the NOAA forecast model to provide a forecast for Hawaii 11 hours before the tsunami arrived.
Left-Propagation of July 6, 2011, Kermadec tsunami was computed with the NOAA forecast method using MOST model with the tsunami source inferred from DART® data. From the NOAA Center for Tsunami Research, located at NOAA PMEL in Seattle, WA. See
